Dark Floral Peony Vintage Wallpaper Mural

Large peonies open side by side on a near-black ground: pale pink, dusty rose and burgundy. Between them sit full, fine-petalled chrysanthemums in cream and pink, clusters of small white and pink flowers and closed buds. The leaves are dark green and bronze, with gold-brown sprigs at the edges. Almost no ground is left empty; the light falls on the flowers while the background stays in shadow, so the design reads like a painted still life.

Where it works

Used on a single wall in a dining room or living room; the pattern is dense and the ground dark, so the other walls should stay plain, either dark or neutral. It pairs with brass or glass pendant lights, dusty rose velvet chairs and dark wood. It also works on the wall behind a bed; in a small bedroom keep the dark ground to that one wall.
